What would you do with 1,000 true fans? As the record industry starts to to bow out to the power of the digital age, starving artists don’t necessarily have to be starving artists anymore. Hair Tips for the Quinceanera

Beautiful updos and gorgeous ringlet curls are common sights at quinceaneras. You have many choices for your special quinceanera hairstyle. Get ideas for great hairstyles on my resources page, in magazines, on the internet, and in books at the library. But remember, just because a hairstyle looks stunning in a picture does not mean that it will look right with your face shape, your gown, or even your type of hair.To get the best possible hairstyle, you need to find someone to work with. Choose a hairstylist who can do your hair several times. Ask for a free consultation before committing to anyone. During the consultation, take the sample pictures of the hairstyles you like and photos of your gown and any jewelry you’ll be wearing, plus your headpiece and tiara. Let the hairstylist feel your hair, look at the shape of your face and your gown and make honest recommendations about what will and will not work. Some hairstylists worry about being honest as they don’t want to offend their clients. Be sure to tell the stylist that you have not yet made up your mind on a style and that you are looking for her honest opinion.

Also let the stylist setup a practice run with you to be sure you actually like the selected hairstyle. If you like the way it turns out, schedule an appointment for your quinceanera portrait so that you get one more practice session and your portrait looks like you the day of the actual celebration.

Don’t Bite Your Nails!

On your special day, you want everything to look beautiful. Don’t forget your hands and nails. You can choose to have your natural nails manicured and painted or you can go with nail enhancements such as tips or gels. If you decide to use enhancements, it is recommended that you get them done a month or so in advance to get used to them and then go in for a fill and touch-ups on the morning of your quinceanera. If you can’t work in an appointment the day of the quinceanera, go as late as possible the night before and wear cotton gloves on your hands to protect the polish.Nail color should enhance your gown and not compete with it. A nice French manicure with pretty white tips always looks elegant. You may also opt for a simple nude or pale pink color. If you have a theme that allows, you can be a little bolder with your nail polish. Red nails would be spectacular in a black and white themed quinceanera.

And don’t forget the nail art. Although you can now get many intricate kinds of nail art, don’t go overboard with it. If you have a very simple gown, you can have more on your nails, but a poofy or busy gown won’t work with very involved nail art. For a compromise, ask the nail artist to put the art on only one finger per hand. You can also add small adhesive rhinestones to your nail polish. No matter what type of nails you choose for your quinceanera, you will need to keep your hands soft and smooth. Get into the habit of applying a chemical-free lotion to your hands after you wash them. A small amount of hand cream or lotion will keep them glowing right through your big event.

Makeup for Your Quince

On your big day, either have a professional apply your make-up or use professional make-up especially selected for your quinceanera. You don’t need to look heavily made-up. Your make-up should enhance the beautiful color of your skin and eyes. Your eyes should sparkle. You should have an overall glow.When selecting your make-up colors, get help. Let the make-up artist or consultant see your dress color and the jewelry you will be wearing. This will help her select the best colors for the day.

You will also want to tell the make-up artist what kind of location you have reserved for your quinceanera and the type of lighting. An indoor reception under stage lights requires a very different kind of makeup application than outdoor make-up in natural light.
